17 Nail Polish Review

I have long been a fan of 17 cosmetics, they are affordable and their packaging is absolutely gorgeous. The quality of the products are amazing and they have a large range of products which is great :D

Today I want to do a review on the 17 nail paints, because with summer coming up I am starting to paint my nails even more, so I thought a nail polish review would be a good idea.

L-r Cupcake, Toasted Almond, Knockout Red, Pink Grapefruit, Lilac Storm, Luau.
I have 6 of the colours and I would definately like to try more, so next time I am in Boots I think I will definately pick some more of these up. The 4 in the middle are the current packaging and the two polishes at either side are old packaging as I have had them for a few months. That is another thing I love about 17 cosmetics, they are always updating and improving their packaging :D Lovely.

These apply like a dream and last really  well!I always wear these with a topcoat as I do with all my nail polishes and I get a good few days wear out of them. You only need 2 coats and then you're good to go. I will now go into each colour individually.

This colour is 'Knockout Red' and this is possibly the most beautiful red ever. It is not too bright, and it is not orange toned (which I hate). It is just a deep red colour that looks very classy and can jazz up any outfit. I love wearing this colour to make things look more smart, or add a burst of colour. I think this shade is a must in any girls collection.

17 Berry Crush Lipstain in Bombshell

17 Berry Crush Lip stain In Bombshell(£4.99)

I think at £4.99 this is one of the cheapest lip stains out on the market. I had been wanting to try a lip stain for ages because I hate having to always apply lipstick throughout the day and after eating and drinking. I did not want one that dried my lips out though as I already have super dry lips, so when is saw that this was enriched with vitamin C for hydrated lips, and has a lip balm on the other end that you could apply throughout the day I decided to give it a go.

MAC Lipstick in Lovelorn

Okay so I'll admit it, after buying my first MAC lipstick last year (MAC Cremesheen in Fanfare) I got slightly addicted to MAC lipsticks (well maybe more than slightly ;) ) They are so beautiful and I love them to bits. Anyways onto the review :D

MEMEME Shimmy Shimmers in Gold Shimmer

I have long been a fan of MEMEME and their dupes for higher end brands at a drugstore price! For example they do boxed powders like Benefit & a dupe for Benefit's Posie Tint, Benetint, High Beam & Moon Beam. This shimmer brick is like the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick :) MEMEME is available exclusively in Superdrug and they have very reasonable prices for such good quality products.

Good Things Miracle Mattifier Moisturiser

I haven't seen many reviews on the products from the Good Things line, but after receiving a sample of this moisturiser from the clothes show, I went straight out and bought the full size!

You get 100ml of moisturiser for £7.99 which is not bad at all!

'MIRACLE MATTIFIER with blackcurrant and goji berry superfruits is quickly absorbed to hydrate your skin. It also helps to absorb any excess oil, so your skin stays smooth and matte and is less prone to breakouts.'

Models Own Lengthen & Curl Mascara Review

I was on the hunt for a new curling mascara & when I went into Boots I was browsing the Models Own counter looking for a new nail polish when I saw they did a range of mascaras. Now I had not seen any reviews on any of the mascaras from Models Own so I decided to give it a go & see for myself.

Revlon Lip Butter Review

I know that there has been a million and one reviews about these, but I really wanted to do a blogpost on them because I am in love!

I love lipsticks & lipglosses but often I find lipglosses to sheer & lipsticks too much and I really want something that's in the middle, so when these came out I felt like my wishes had been granted(cheesy I know ;) ) These are the midground between a gloss and a lipstick. They are super moisturising but they are still very pigmented. They last a good few hours, the darker shades tend to last longer. It would be great if these could last longer but then again they are lip butters and they are not going to have the same staying power.

I have three shades so far, but would definately like to pick up more!
I have cupcake, lollipop & strawberry shortcake (cute names eh?)

John Frieda Colour Renew Shampoo & Conditioner Review

I recently ombred my hair and was so happy with the effect, however it was very ginger & brassy. I tried to find reviews online of purple shampoos but found them few & far apart. I opted for the 'John Frieda Colour Renew Shampoo & Conditioner'

May Favourites

So I know this post is kind of late so I'm sorry! But here are all my favourites from May, this month I tried to switch up what I was using a bit and with the weather getting hotter and it feeling more like summer I have changed products. Also I have a new foundation routine now which I am super happy with! So on with the favourites.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo's

Hey Everyone!

When I heard that these Maybelline Colour Tattoo's were coming to the UK I HAD to get my hands on them! It took me a long time to get hold of these as they were very popular and were sold out in all the Boots & Superdrug stores near me, but eventually I found a store that did have some in stock. They had all of the colours that are available in the UK in stock which are:

  • On & On Bronze
  • Eternal Gold
  • Permanent Taupe
  • Endless Purple
  • Turquoise Forever
  • Immortal Charcoal
  • & Eternal Silver
I know that there are more of these available in the US but unfortunately for us guys here in the UK they are not bringing all of the colours over :( however I am sure they can probably be purchased on EBay.
These retail for £4.99 which for a cream eyeshadow I think is a very reasonable price and you do get a lot of product, I am not sure what the exact amount is as it doesn't state this, however the glass jars are big. I love the packaging of these so much! They look quite similar to the MAC Paint Pots & the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow Liners. I think the glass makes them feel really luxurious.

Of the colours to choose from I decided to get Eternal Gold and On & On Bronze because I don't wear bright colours and don't wear black/silver eyeshadows. Also I was going to get Permanant taupe which is the only matte colour in the collection I think, correct me if I'm wrong.

So onto the review.

Here are the swatches of Eternal Gold and On & On Bronze

The camera unfortunately is not really doing these justice, but they are super pigmented!(way more pigmented than they look in this picture!) and they apply like a dream, they are so smooth and creamy which I think comes from the fact that these are gel-cream shadows. I have found the best way to apply these is with your fingers as I find with most cream shadows that brushes really don't do a good job. These claim to last 24hours which is not a claim that I can really test as I don't wear my eyeshadows for this long, but they do certainly last. I tend to wear these from about 7 o'clock until 9 o'clock in the evening and they are definately still there and they haven't creased, however I do find that the colour tends to fade slightly.

Of the two my favourite is definately 'Eternal Gold' because it is such an easy colour, and you can just apply all over the lid and be good to go. It also really accentuates my blue eyes and I find when I wear this my eyes really pop and look so blue! I also get a fair few compliments saying how blue my eyes look, so if you have blue/green eyes this is definately a must have! I also like 'On & On Bronze' and I apply this over a powder or cream white shadow in my crease or the outer corner. I really like this colour and it is a perfect bronze colour however I don't like to wear this just all over my lid like I do with 'Eternal Gold' because I feel that it looks to dark so it is not quite as quick, but that doesn't matter.

I think these shadows are amazing and a must have in any makeup collection!

Have you tried any of the Maybelline Colour Tattoos?

MUA Blushes

I am all for a bargain with makeup but not many lower end brands or cheap products really shine for me. However these blushes retail for £1 in superdrug(yes just £1!) and they are amazing! I wouldn't usually pick up a blush that retailed for such a cheap price as I would just assume that it would be rubbish, but because the MUA range had been raved about, and I love their eye shadows I decided to give it a go.

I have 3 of these blushes in Shades 3,4 & 5
L-R shade 3,4 &5
These are only light swatches but you can see they have very good pigment, with a heavier swatch the pigment is extreme!

These do feel a bit powdery but when blended into the skin you really can't tell, you have to use these with a light hand or you will have way to much pigment on your face! But I think these are very comparable to the other drugstore blushes out there, and although not as creamy as the higher end blushes you can't complain for £1. The packaging does feel cheap and is not overly sturdy, but it the letters in silver on the front do look quite classy, but again for £1 what do you expect? You get 2.4g of product and most drugstore blushes are about 5g so you get about half. These wear for a good few hours, but it depends on your skin type, I have combination oil skin, but my cheeks are quite dry. Overall I would definately suggest trying these blushes out and some of the other products from the range, I recommend the lipsticks & eyeshadows from the range, but they are the only things I have tried. I really wish these blushes had names rather than shade numbers because I really like products to have names, however I think this might be something MUA are looking into as recently on the website I have seen they have given their lipsticks and some new products names.

What is your favourite MUA product?
